NSI National Green Building Standard — In collaboration with the International Code Council and the NAHB, this product is the first ANSI standard on sustainable green building. The free Green Scoring Tool lets you score your project to the practices of the National Green Building Standard

EnergyStar —  The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) runs the EnergyStar program.  The Energy Star logo can be found on appliances and electronic equipment, and indicates that the product uses energy than other models. EnergyStar also has a program for certifying homes that have low energy use.

Green Building Intitiative — The NAHB launched the GBI to foster green building in the US. It is now being replaced by the ANSI National Green Building Standard

LEED — The US Green Building Council has put out a set of building standards placing it under the banner of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).  These standards can be used to certify that a home building has achieved both low energy use and high environmental friendliness
